Vessillo al cuore
CAEDMON / WORK #130

Vessillo al cuore

Even the turn inward had been received. The hand knew where to rest before the feeling had become distinct, and took its instruction from a surface behind which there was nothing to be felt. The cloth could carry the gesture through every fold. Other hands were needed to keep it raised; these remained occupied.

In flesh the gesture acquired a remainder. Whatever happened beneath the hand could no longer be settled by placing it correctly. The posture admitted a person without accounting for him. He could follow it closely, find that it fitted, and still have to live through what the surface had given entire. For a while the hand could simply remain there.
