Preghiera alla corazza
The armour had been fitted to more than its wearer. The distance from which a blow could reach her belonged to the fitting. Whoever took up that position entered the same calculation; greater force introduced nothing foreign. She bore only the nearest part of it.
A hand resting against her side held that part answerable for something that could not be asked of the whole. The pressure was slight. Nothing in the fitting accounted for the request stopping here, within reach of an answer from her. A shift of her weight would require the hand to find its place again.
