Bandiera tra i cappucci
The hand was counted as belonging entirely to the bearer. That was adequate while we considered only the weight. Along the cloth, the division became harder to maintain: part of what was being carried had already become the bearer’s covering. The place of support gave a clear answer to a question that grew less clear a little farther away.
Others were enclosed separately, each within a length sufficient to conceal him. The excess passed among them with a likeness spread across it. They could follow this likeness without having to resemble it. Only the bearer had to enter its folds, where some of the drawing disappeared and resumed with the movement of a shoulder.
We had allowed for the cloth to bend. We had not allowed this to alter which parts of the likeness could be seen together.
