We had counted everything a person could carry away with him. His place among the others had somehow entered that account. Yet he can bring back all that he took and remain at the edge, while those who have kept scarcely anything of themselves are already taking part. Someone must make room from within. This requires a movement for which the arriving person has no substitute, however far he has travelled.
The accompaniment can be entrusted to those who have no means of helping him across that last distance. They have already begun.
