Someone can be addressed before everything belonging to them has been gathered within a boundary. Much of what surrounds them has its own means of departure, and still enters into their shape. We had expected separation to make the remaining person easier to distinguish. Yet the first absence would reach sideways, into what had seemed complete beside it. The measure at the throat would remain accurate.
