Volto di mare
CAEDMON / WORK #279

Volto di mare

The face had no separate means of holding its expression. What pressed upon it also carried it forward; a loosening in one place would alter both its features and its course. Its apparent attention could be sustained by a force that had never entered it.

Receiving had been placed among the lesser conditions, with weight and exposure. Even the account of what comes from within was made while that pressure continued. Relieving it would settle very little: the look would slacken along with the power to proceed. Receiving must be entered again, though it already appears in the reckoning of forces.
