Corde e onde
CAEDMON / WORK #299

Corde e onde

That much steadiness is sufficient. A length can be altered precisely from a place that is itself being carried away. The hand requires its small differences to hold; nothing in the act requires the whole body to remain where it was.

The greater movement has been left out of the reckoning. It continues in the wrist, in the weight against which the instrument rests. What supports the act also passes into it, though we have given the act a name belonging only to the player. A little of that other movement may enter the note. There is no separate place within the sound where the chosen part can be heard alone.
