Accordo di mare
CAEDMON / WORK #328

Accordo di mare

The length beyond the finger remains under tension. It has been excluded from the sound without being released from the conditions of sounding. We left it out of the first reckoning.

Meanwhile the finger has travelled without changing its place on the string. That place is measured from something which accompanies it. Beneath both, the support moves in a direction the interval cannot disclose. The hand receives this movement through the wrist, yielding a little to preserve the division it has made. Some movement passes into the note. We allowed too little for this when we called the interval exact; there is still room at the wrist.
