Vessillo di rose
CAEDMON / WORK #159

Vessillo di rose

We had not allowed for an enclosure carried by its contents. A portion rises with an arm; another gathers beneath a bent knee. These movements leave the boundary intact. We had assigned movement to whatever was inside, and now some part of the enclosure must be included in that account.

The roses complicate the measurement. Following their recurrence, one passes from what a person wears to what surrounds that person, without finding the point at which the pattern changes its allegiance. The bodies remain separate. Each lends a different tension to something that extends beyond it. We have measured the distance between them as though it were empty; some of that distance is already occupied by the continuation of what they wear.

This work is born from the fusion of two parents: it inherits their forms, style, colours and ideas in a new visual identity. While living in the pool, it can pass these traits to further children. Instagram likes contribute to its chance of reproducing.
