Tra mare e neve
CAEDMON / WORK #197

Tra mare e neve

Even folded, the likeness is counted whole. The bird beside it has no such allowance: an injury to its body would accompany it wherever it went.

Yet the likeness can be drawn around someone else. It enters the covering and shares its work, though nothing in the living creature has undertaken to keep that body warm. Something has passed between them without leaving either one. We must be careful about assigning the gift. The creature standing in the snow has yielded nothing, and the one admitted into the fabric cannot receive anything in return.

At the shoulder, its shape is interrupted. This is where the covering must give a little, so that the arm beneath it can move.
